"West Wing" Replacement Ratings Week 2

From Zap2It:
"CBS held the top spot at 8 p.m. with "60 Minutes" and "Cold Case," scoring an 11.8/17 for the hour. ABC improved to 10.2/15 with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." NBC's remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" was third, edging "The Simpsons," 6.0/9, and "The War at Home," 4.9/7, on FOX. "Charmed" averaged 2.8/4 for The WB."

From the New York Times:
"NBC's three-hour remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" did not draw many more viewers than its regular Sunday night lineup usually does."

From Reuters:
"NBC's three-hour remake of the 1972 ocean-liner disaster flick "The Poseidon Adventure" sailed off with 9.6 million viewers Sunday, less than half the turnout for ABC's powerhouse pair of "Desperate Housewives" (26 million) and "Grey's Anatomy" (20.8 million), according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research."

Media Life:
"TV critics savaged NBC’s three-hour move special “The Poseidon Adventure,” and then viewers swamped it. The made-for-TV movie went down with all hands on board.

"Poseidon" averaged a 3.1 overnight rating among viewers 18-49 last night, in another letdown for NBC in what has been a disappointing November sweeps period.

For the night NBC averaged a 3.1 among 18-49s, down 16 percent versus the same night last year, when the network averaged a 3.7 for its usual Sunday night lineup.

Further, the network’s 3.1 average from 8-11 p.m. was down 6 percent from the 3.3 overnight rating it had averaged in the same slot through the first two Sundays of November sweeps.

It's never quite clear how much viewers pay attention to TV reviewers, but it's a safe bet a goodly number were warned off the remake of the 1972 film."

From Variety:
"
NBC similarly was on the low end with its three-hour "Poseidon Adventure" (3.1/7 in 18-49, 9.6 million viewers overall), while Fox was solid with its comedy block of"The Simpsons"(4.8/12 in 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall), "The War at Home" (4.1/9 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall),"Family Guy" Guy" (4.5/10 in 18-49, 9.0 million viewers overall) and "American Dad" (3.9/9 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall)."
