Oklahoma Centennial Commission
100 years young, the great state of Oklahoma arrives on Broadway on the brand new Oklahoma Rising float. Celebrating the state's upcoming Centennial in 2007, the float features unique Oklahoma culture and achievements. Featuring a rocket ship in celebration of that state's eight astronauts, an oil well, and an authentic covered wagon, the float represents Oklahoma's past, present and future. Pulled by Oklahoma Clydesdales, the float will also feature recognizable American Indian tribal symbols. Tony winner and star of NBC's The West Wing, Kristin Chenoweth will be on board performing Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic tune "Oklahoma." Other famous Oklahomans including sports legends Barry Switzer, Shannon Miller, Johnny Bench and Bobby Mercer; opera Singer Leona Mitchell; composer Jimmy Webb; and Choctaw Indian Gena Howard will all be on board for the trip down Broadway."
