"Matthews was challenged by some after appearing as himself on NBC's The West Wing on Oct. 9. He "interviewed" presidential candidate Sen. Arnold Vinick (Alan Alda).
Tough toenails. "The script was magnificent, and I'm very proud to have played the role. It was a fabulous portrait of what the news business is - trying to catch people when they're distorting the facts."
After getting the OK from MSNBC boss Rick Kaplan, Matthews shot the scene last month."
