"West Wing" Ratings Week 18 - Has More Viewers Than "Commander in Chief"

""Commander in Chief" wasn't able to muster the troops in its return to primetime Thursday.
The ABC drama, which stars Geena Davis as the nation's first female president, averaged 8.2 million viewers and a 2.4 rating/7 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary ratings data from Nielsen Media Research.
In its new 10 p.m. slot, "Commander" was defeated handily by CBS's "Without a Trace" (18.6 million, 5.7/16). It had a couple million more viewers than a repeat of NBC's "ER" (6 million, 2.6/7) but the repeat did better in the demo."

"Ad Age also reports that NBC will likely charge a premium to advertise on the series finales of "Will & Grace" and "The West Wing." Neither show has near the ratings of its peak years, but they may get a nice goodbye bump when they bow out in May."

But "The West Wing" was definitely in third place at 8 p.m. with 8.3 million viewers and a 2.2/6 against CBS's "Cold Case" (13.5 million, 3.2/9) and ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (11.7 million, 4.6/13). A repeat episode of "The Simpsons" (5.6 million, 2.8./8) was almost the same as a new episode of "The War at Home" (5.4 million, 2.7/7) over on Fox."

"At 8 p.m. ABC led with a 4.6 for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” followed by a 3.2 for CBS for “Cold Case.” Fox was third with a 2.8 for a repeat of “The Simpsons” (2.8) and a new “The War at Home” (2.7), NBC fourth with a 2.2 for “The West Wing,” Univision fifth with a 1.5 for the first hour of “Bailando por un SueƱo” and WB sixth with a 1.3 for “Charmed.”
