Ratings Report

Zap2It:
"CBS stayed in front at 8 p.m. with the rest of "60 Minutes" and "Cold Case," scoring an 11.0/17. The second hour of "Home Edition" improved to 9.9/15 for ABC. "The West Wing" premiered to a 5.6/8 on its new night for NBC, edging "The Simpsons" and "The War at Home" on FOX (although FOX had more total viewers for the hour). The season premiere of "Charmed" posted a 2.5/4 for The WB."

MediaLife
For “War at Home,” the decline continued; its 3.8 rating was down from last week’s 3.9 and from the 4.4 it earned for its premiere two weeks ago. Two other notable premieres during the 8 p.m. timeslot: NBC’s “The West Wing,” which averaged a 2.4 rating on its new night, well down from a 3.3 average last season; and the WB’s “Charmed,” which averaged a 1.8 rating, up from a 1.6 average last year.

Associated Press:
"LOSER: "The West Wing." NBC took a chance by moving this series to Sunday. It could be a savvy counterprogramming strategy if viewers find it; fewer than 9 million did for its season premiere. The series averaged more than 11 million viewers last season, and last season's premiere had 12.3 million."
