"The Whitford-Kaczmarek household will face a dilemma at 8 p.m. May 14 that will be played out in homes across America throughout the May sweeps.
Bradley Whitford (Josh on "The West Wing") and his wife, Jane Kaczmarek (Lois on "Malcolm in the Middle") have to decide whether to watch the series finale of his show or hers.
In a conference call this week, Kaczmarek said the decision on which one will be watched live in their one-TV household and which will be recorded was complicated because the one being recorded could be saved for posterity. She was stunned to learn that DVRs now can record two shows at once.
The May sweeps is an advertisement for DVRs. A TV viewer with a plan can record hours of material that can be saved for the entire summer. Here is one critic's list of the best of the May sweeps."
