Why "West Wing" is hardly rerun

From an article on television in general:

"These shows ["Without a Trace" "Cold Case]follow the proper formula shared by "CSI" and "Law & Order": Each has a basic case, one that will be solved at the end of the hour.

"We really do like the close-ended type shows for a lot of reasons," said Jonathan Littman, who heads Bruckheimer's TV division. "One is that they're easily viewable a second time."

Shows that focus on serialized stories tend to sputter during reruns. Some - "The West Wing," for instance - rarely even try."

Also, the Canadian channel CTV appears to be following the NBC rerun schedule this summer.
